HopCast Episode 249

Episode 249: Penrose Brewing P2 & Southern Tier 2XONE

Hey Craft Beer fans, it’s time for a new episode of the Hop Cast. In episode 249, Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder open up a couple Pale Ales. First up is the P2, a 5.54% ABV Belgian Pale Ale from our good friends at Penrose Brewing. This has been a go to beer for Brad and Ken lately; it’s juicy, finishes dry and is very easy to drink. Next Brad and Ken move onto the 2XONE, a 8.1% ABV American Pale Ale. It’s been awhile since we’ve had anything from Southern Tier Brewing Company on the Hop Cast and this was a nice treat. They are a fantastic brewery, making some great beer. These 2 beers were both pretty different which shows how varied and vast the Pale Ale category can be.

Cheers and thanks for watching and supporting the Hop Cast.

HopCast Episode 169

Episode 169: Galaxy White IPA & R&D Golden Ale

In episode 169 of the Hop Cast Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder explore a couple of beers with Brettanomyces. The first beer they open is the Galaxy White IPA from Anchorage Brewing Company. This White IPA was brewed with 100% Galaxy hops, kumquats, coriander & peppercorns. Then fermented in French Oak Foudres and Bottle conditioned with Brett. This was Brad and Ken’s first experience with Anchorage Brewing Company and if this is the sort of stuff we can expect from them, we are all going to be in for a real treat. Next Brad and Ken open a bottle of New Glarus Brewing’s R&D Golden Ale. This 7% Belgian Pale Ale is funky and refreshing. If you’re a fan of slightly funky beers this one is fantastic and makes for something that you just can’t get enough of.

Cheers and thanks for watching the Hop Cast.

Hop Cast – Episode 56

Brad Stark joins Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder for episode 56 of the Hop Cast. The first beer the three of them review and sample is one straight out of Ken’s keg. It is the Stone Soup from New Glarus Brewing. New Glarus is a classic midwest brewery that is rather difficult to find out of the state of Wisconsin. The Stone Soup is a Belgian Pale Ale and has an ABV of 5.3%. After that delicious midwest beer the three of them move onto the Two Jokers Double-Wit from Boulevard Brewing. The Double Joker was a trade to Ken from Dale Miskimins and was well worth the trade. Brad and Ken really haven’t experienced too many double Witbier’s but this beer made them want to try some more. The Two Jokers has an ABV of 8.0% and overall just plain rocked! Brad and Ken previously had a couple Boulevard Brewing beers on another episode and those also didn’t disappoint. If you can find any of Boulevard’s beers in your area, we highly recommend giving them a try.
