HopCast Episode 249

Episode 249: Penrose Brewing P2 & Southern Tier 2XONE

Hey Craft Beer fans, it’s time for a new episode of the Hop Cast. In episode 249, Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder open up a couple Pale Ales. First up is the P2, a 5.54% ABV Belgian Pale Ale from our good friends at Penrose Brewing. This has been a go to beer for Brad and Ken lately; it’s juicy, finishes dry and is very easy to drink. Next Brad and Ken move onto the 2XONE, a 8.1% ABV American Pale Ale. It’s been awhile since we’ve had anything from Southern Tier Brewing Company on the Hop Cast and this was a nice treat. They are a fantastic brewery, making some great beer. These 2 beers were both pretty different which shows how varied and vast the Pale Ale category can be.

Cheers and thanks for watching and supporting the Hop Cast.

HopCast Episode 247

Episode 247: Grapefruit Sculpin & Habanero Sculpin

In episode 247 of the Hop CastBrad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder dive into a couple variations of Ballast Point Brewing Company’s Sculpin IPA. These both look like the Sculpin IPA you know and love but with a little twist that might turn some folks away or make them love Ballast Point even more. First up, Brad and Ken open the Grapefruit Sculpin, an IPA with grapefruit rind. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer. Next up they destroy their pallets with the Habanero Sculpin, an IPA with Habanero peppers added. Sculpin are known to sting, but this one’s got a kick. Both these beers were really fun to taste side by side and see how a slight variations can give you something so unique.

Thanks for watching the Hop Cast. Cheers!
