The HopCast Untappd Badge

We are very excited to be partnering with Untappd to launch the HopCast themed badge.

So how to you get the HopCat badge?

To earn the HopCast badge all you need to do is followHopCast’s activity on Untappd and enjoy at least three different beers that we’ve checked in to in the last 30 days. Sometimes those are rare gems from the cellar and sometimes they are “easy” to find local beers. Untappd and the HopCast would love to know which three beers you drank to earn this badge, so be sure to tweet them at @hopcast and @untappd.

Hop Cast – Episode 140: Nebraska Brewing’s Black Betty

In Hop Cast episode 140 Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder do something they have never done before. No, this is not the nude episode you’ve all been waiting for… at least not yet. The two of them revisit a beer that they previously reviewed on another episode. The beer they revisit is the the Black Betty from Nebraska Brewing. Sadly the bottle they had in episode 137 had been infected. Well, the folks at Nebraska Brewing were nice enough to send a new bottle of this 9.0% ABV beer for us to try. It was great to be able to try this beer the way the brewers had intended.

Thanks for watching the Hop Cast.

Hop Cast – Episode 139: Avery IPA & Onion Pub Hop Slayer

Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder are out on the the back deck cracking open a couple of canned beers in episode 139 of the Hop Cast. The first beer they open is one they haven’t seen in cans before, the Avery IPA. This 6.5% ABV India Pale Ale is usually found in the bottle or on tap but it’s nice to see Avery making the move to more canned beers. The can is just a great vehicle for beers, especially when you’re out in the back yard. After the Avery IPA, Brad and Ken move onto the Hop Slayer from Onion Pub. These guy are located out in the suburbs of Chicago and are just starting to get more or their beers to market. The Hop Slayer is a 8..0% ABV Double IPA and is very easy-going. It would be a nice beer for a hot summer day on the beach.

Thanks for watching the Hop Cast.

Hop Cast – Episode 138: Finch’s Beer Co.

In Hop Cast episode 138 Ken Hunnemeder and Brad Chmielewski are hanging out at the newest production brewery in Chicago, Finch’s Beer Company. The two of them chat first with owner Ben Finch as he fills some kegs. They discuss how the brewery got started and its future plans. They then catch up with Brewer Richard Grant as he waits for the boil. He talks a little about what goes into brewing each of Finch’s brews.

Check out Finch’s website for a list of where you can find their beers. Thanks for watching the Hop Cast.
